Blackpink’s Jennie has revealed for the first time the reason behind establishing her one-person agency ‘Odd Atelier (OA).’
On the afternoon of the 2nd, the first recording site of KBS 2TV’s ‘The Seasons – Lee Hyori’s Red Carpet’ (referred to as ‘Lee Hyori’s Red Carpet’) was unveiled at the KBS new building in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.
During the recording, Hyori Lee mentioned to Jennie that she recently decided to go solo. Jennie explained, “I wanted to engage in group activities with the company I had been with for 7 years, but I desired more freedom and comfort in my individual pursuits. So, I carefully established a company called ‘OA.’ Despite continuing activities with the crew I had been with for a long time, I wanted to be free. Even if the path I take is unconventional or different from others, I named it with the intention of excelling. I’m excited because it’s my first time holding the microphone and revealing it to the public. I’m happy to share it with my sister.”
Jennie continued, “I’ve learned a lot, and because it was a company where I started as a trainee from the beginning, there was much I could do and learn. With a spirit of challenge, I asked myself, ‘What can you do on your own in the future?’ ‘Courage.’ I thought, ‘Let’s confront and contemplate on it,'” revealing the background of establishing a one-person agency.
Lee Hyori specifically inquired if there was a possibility that Jennie’s company ‘OA’ would produce other artists in the future. Jennie responded, “Actually, I never dreamed of something like that, but it was enjoyable to imagine while starting a company. However, I think it would be good if we take good care of an artist named Jenny and have positive developments in the future,” she said with a laugh.
Upon hearing this, Hyori Lee joked, “Please help me grow because my contract with Antenna ends in February,” prompting laughter from the audience, while Jennie replied, “Please call me.”
Finally, Jennie shared, “My dream is to release my first solo full-length album to the world this year. I hope to become Jennie, who can be discovered with good music within this year,” revealing her plans for 2024.
‘Lee Hyori’s Red Carpet’ is a program that marks the finale of ‘The Seasons,’ a talk show with music and stories to alleviate public concerns on Sunday night. As the fourth season, following ‘Jay Park’s Drive’ in February, ‘Choi Jung-hoon’s Park at Night’ in May, and ‘Akmu’s One Day, Five Nights’ in September, Hyori Lee took on the role of sole MC for the first time in 26 years since her debut. KBS 2TV’s ‘Lee Hyori’s Red Carpet’ will air for the first time on the 5th at 11:20 PM.
