BLACKPINK’s Jennie has ultimately declined the offer to appear on Kim Tae-ho PD’s new entertainment show.
On the 19th, a JTBC official informed OSEN, “Jennie will not be appearing on ‘My Name is Gabriel.'”
Jennie’s side also stated to OSEN, “Currently, Jennie is focusing on album work, so she has declined the program appearance,” confirming that she will not be appearing on “My Name is Gabriel.”
“My Name is Gabriel” is the latest work of Kim Tae-ho PD, who previously created popular shows like “Infinite Challenge” and “What Do You Do?” on MBC. It is known for showing celebrities experiencing the lives of others abroad. Kim Tae-ho PD mentioned his next project during his appearance on “Salon Drip 2” in January, saying, “We are in the process of casting and filming under the working title ‘Gabriel.’ For example, when Jang Do-yeon arrives at New York airport, there is a situation where someone is holding a name tag saying ‘Christina’ to welcome her. From there, Jang Do-yeon starts living Christina’s life, one out of 8 billion people.”
He added, “Many stars talk about wanting to live a life other than their own on talk shows. We plan to use a 10% accuracy coding program to match the stories the participants want to tell with the lives they will experience as a result. It’s an adventure. We are also curious about how much the participants will immerse themselves and adapt.”
It was reported exclusively by OSEN that preparations for the first filming in mid-March are underway with the aim of airing the first episode of “My Name is Gabriel” in June. Kim Tae-ho PD stated to OSEN, “We have been working hard since last fall to prepare fun and relatable content. We will do our best during the remaining time to greet you with a good appearance.”
Meanwhile, JTBC had previously announced that actors Yeom Hye-ran, Ji Chang-wook, Park Bo-gum, entertainer Park Myung-soo, and Hong Jin-kyung have confirmed their appearances. Park Myung-soo will be reuniting with Kim Tae-ho PD after about six years since “Infinite Challenge.” However, although there were reports of Jennie’s appearance, JTBC stated, “It has not been confirmed.” Later, it was confirmed that Jennie ultimately declined the offer to appear on “Gabriel” in order to focus on her album work.
“My Name is Gabriel” is scheduled to premiere in June.
