I just scrolled past this BBC post on IG. I instantly had a flashback to when BBC posted, with a similar picture, the news of her Weibo account being banned by China. That was a little over 3 months ago. It’s truly amazing to see how Lisa’s solo career has taken off, despite the insane backlash she received for her (nothing short of amazing) collab with CH, the cabaret.

I may have been in the minority when I said I thought it was a positive and strategic move for her solo career, particularly if she was interested in moving towards the Western Industry. We’ve really never known what direction she wanted to go in, but since October she’s done dance at the Parisian cabaret, a music video in Paris, her solo performance at Yellow Pieces (Paris), launching LLOUD – her agency that is based in the U.S., and now she’s cast on a multi-Emmy winning hit U.S. tv series that’s taking place in Thailand this season.

Is it too soon to say that she’s chosen to lay her roots in the western industry for her career?

It’s okay to not agree with certain choices artists make during their careers, but does anyone else think the cabaret may have boosted her career in terms of networking and name recognition? Or perhaps it had no impact on her career one way or the other.
