Girl group BLACKPINK, which has received keen attention on whether to re-sign, is expected to work “samely separately.”
According to multiple sources in the music industry on the 21st, Black Pink member Rosé signed an agreement to renew his contract with YG Entertainment. The remaining three members, Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa, are reportedly in last-minute discussions with a “separately and together” strategy to move to places other than YG Entertainment but engage in Black Pink activities for six months out of the year.
This is similar to the contract method of Super Junior Eunhyuk, Donghae, and Kyuhyun, whose contracts with SM Entertainment expired earlier.
Among the members, Ji-soo, a member who is certain to turn into an actor, and Lisa, a Thai member who is enjoying high popularity abroad, are reportedly transferring with tens of billions of dollars in down payments.
According to K-pop officials, foreign investors have already invested a large amount of money, raising the potential of Jisoo, which has endless potential as an actor, and Lisa’s influence in the Southeast Asian market, including her hometown Thailand. Each of them signed a contract with a different company and is known to be a Korean company.
Earlier, Big Hit Entertainment, another world star BTS agency, succeeded in renewing its contract with BTS, signaling a full group activity in 2025. As Black Pink also signed such a contract, the activities of two groups representing Korea, BTS, and K-pop groups represented by Black Pink, are expected to continue.
Jennie expressed her intention to continue her Black Pink activities at the world tour “Bon Pink” encore performance held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro-gu, Seoul on the 17th, saying, “I will continue to be a wonderful Black Pink.”
Black Pink, which debuted in 2016, is considered one-top group that broke the first, best and most records of K-pop girl groups.
It holds the record of No. 1 YouTube channel subscribers and views among artists worldwide, No. 1 Spotify followers among girl groups worldwide, No. 1 Billboard 200, Korea’s first U.S. Billboard main album chart, and the headliner of Coachella, the world’s largest music festival.
The “Born Pink” tour attracted 1.8 million viewers, the second largest number after BTS’ “Love Yourself” tour, which drew 2.05 million people among the single K-pop world tours.
